Does it look like these palys are dying? They have never seemed really happy. They are in a two month old tank with parameters staying very stable. Had them for 2 weeks. And should I get them out? I don't want the water fouled as I do have a couple mushrooms and Duncans and a Blasto. I wouldn't hesitate to trash these palys if they are a lost cause.

The stringy bits to me seem like gha

your rocks look super clean. In my experience zoas and palys like dirtier water. It doesn't have to be super dirty, but sterile is tough.

There are some stringy bits coming from the palys.

They look fine to me maybe closed and ticked but. Unless they are severed or something I wouldn’t be too worried

Lighting is 2 Ai Hydra 32s. Palys are low in the tank, but have been placed higher, mid, and now lower. Parameters are salinity 1.025, Ammonia 0,Nitrite 0, Nitrate around 10 (was above 10 but less than 20 so did a water change), calcium 410, alkalinity 9.3. And temp is 77.6. Tank is 75g with Caribsea Life rock and will be mixed reef.

The water is pretty clean. Just the newness of it all keeps it from having the dirtier, nutrient-rich water. I won't rush to judgment on the palys quite yet as I have a little tiny colony of zoas that are showing improvement. I just want to gain knowledge and not let anything nuke the tank. Thank you for responding.

were they open when the nitrates were higher, before the water change took it to 10?

and if they melt away they won't nuke the tank.
and if they close up, don't take them out. I've had zoa/paly's close for over a month.
and then open up and start spreading.

I would leave them alone. Only other thing would be how high and long you're running your lights.

TY. I will let them be then. I do feed them once or twice a week. Maybe they will catch up. They really didn't look much better with the higher nitrates.

Lights are about 8 hrs, including the ramp up and down of an hour each way. I turned whites wayyy down and reds down as the diatoms came and went...they just now went. I will ease the red back up just a little soon and increase the lights about 1 more hour in a couple of weeks.

Brs video on your lights if you haven't seen it. Maybe it'll help. I have my palys low with kessil 360we running at about 75pct peak for 5 hours total of 12 with a ramp up and down. So only getting around 100 par or so.

I'm still learning on the lighting. I reefed about 16 or 17 years ago, but that consisted of compact florescent and MH. And timers in the wall...LOL Things have changed greatly. The settings can be confusing.
