So I've noticed that it appears palys are hardier than zoas. Either that or I just have better luck taking care of palys. Has anyone else noticed this as well?

In my experience palys are more likely to get an infection after being cut, and zoas hardier. Guess it varies tank to tank. Both my palys and zoas thrive normally though.

I'm not sold on this statement. I think it depends on the variety.

I was wondering. The only palys I've had are red and green people eaters and some sort of morph which seem like they'll just about survive out of water. Zoas definately are hit or miss. I have some that do great and others just close up and melt away

Are we talking about actualy palythoas here or zoanthid gigantus which everyone just calls palys? Red and green people eaters are not palys.

Palys seem to do better for me also, I have a hard time introducing new zoas especially say the king midas for one example.. I've tried twice with them and they dwindle away slowly over time. fruit loops and whamin watermelons on the other hand do great and grow pretty rapidly. All the pallys I've tried grow like weeds.

ive had 2 or 3 frags of darth maul morphs melt on me, fruit loops that never opened, but on the other hand i have these orange and black zoas, red hornets, and rastas ive been having decent luck with so far.

I think a lot of it has to do with acclimation. I had a few frags that I rushed once and they melted away, but since then I've taken a while for them and they have all lasted. Just my personal experience.

I drip acclimate mine. I start with the water that comes with the coral and then I add an airline with a valve from my tank into that container. From that container I also have an airline removing the same amount of water that gets put in. This way the water gets almost completely changed instead of diluting the original water.

Thats smart. Never thought of the second airline

I float them for 15-30 mins or more if I forget about them bobbing around and then I open the bags up and drip some water in every couple mins with an eye dropper looking thing. I need to set up a drip acclimation setup

In my tank palys do better. But only because zoas closed by get covered and die . Also zoas most of the time do better under lower light and palys like higher light. So when we place them too high zoas melt.
