I am new to reefing, I have a 45l 12g reef tank for a year but I have a problem with one of my newely purchased corals. I intended to purchase a green zoa, I purchased it from a fellow hobbyist that told me it is a zoa, I didn't saw any pictures of the coral prior purchase and wen I saw it it was closed. After I put it in my tank the coral opened, I think it is a palythoa. My questions are : is the coral a palythoa? The species that I have do contain high levels of palytoxin? ( here I am really concerned about the palytoxin toxicity, I can say that I am a bit paranoid because every time that I do a water change I were protective glasses, medical mask etc. and after I am finished I wash my hands with bleach) and if it is a zoa or a palythoa what species it is? Any ideas are welcomed! :)

Tidal gardens do a good video on zoathids and plays. Watched it today. It seems unless you can the paly damage you should be fine but do not stress it or try scrub it or boil it from rock. You may end up in hospital or a cemetery. Nothing the fear.

looks like green paly. Totally ok...and YES I AGREE >>> do not do what peterede said..no scrubbing etc or you could get sick
I have some in my tank and are totally ok ...
If you go and frag them, make sure you wear gloves and eye coverings ...
I guess if you are very concerned about toxik,,,then get rid of it...to prevent any future concerns

The way I see it, every person that has ever owned coral has owned zoas, if it was really so dangerous we would hear about very often from many people. But no, cases are very few and far between, and honestly, some people are more sensitive than others. Like peanut butter, everyone eats peanut butter, but only a few people have nut allergy. It’s not something I’m concerned about, a younger me would have eaten a zoa on a $20 dare
