So yesturday i bought a really beautiful orange yuma mushroom but it was on a rock from someones tank. My local fish store is mainly a aquarium cleaner for 3 days of the week and on the other 4 days they open onky for 5 hours. But they have the most besutoful corals ever and for great prices.. alot of them are from customers tanks.

Anyway the rock had palythoas on it. I asked for an i.d last night turned out it was palythoas but they looked really pretty to me anyway. I was told to use gloves when removing then which i did. I tried to chizzle them off and that didnt work.. So then i dipped the rock to kill nasties and just put the whole rock in my tank..

Dipping didnt work 30 seconds being in my tank i see this 2 inch long bristleworm trying to evacuate the rock.. heck no i said.

So i decided to take an eye glass acrew drivee and pry them off gently and glue them to a small rock to isolate them from my main rock work based on what people suggested as they grow fast i was told.

I killed a few by accident stabbing them and black goo came out but nothing squirtes and i had gloves but it smelled bad. I saved 6 of them and put em in the tank with charcoal.

Within 2 hours i atarted getting a headache and felt a little dizzy but i wasnt sure if it was just the cold weather or what.. You see it was 70f the other day then it went to 20f last night and the windows in the house were open from my gf openeing them earlier in the day.

I closed them turned the heat on and watched t.v to warm up.. i was cold for hours then fell asleep on the couche in a blanket with the fire place on.

I woke up and went to bed. Then i woke up in the night with bodly chilla. Muscle aches. And dizzyness. And my body itsrlf was hot not cold.

I started getting worried thinking hmm is it those palythoas.. I went back to bed and i just woke up . I feel alot better no more real body aches im still warm but i dont have the chills. I have no metalic taste in my mouth and it doesnt tingle in my throat. I can breathe just fine as well.

SOO im not sure if this is palythoa toxin or just a case of chills from the cold weather that creeped up..

Should i just take the rock out and toss it in the trash ? Im not sure if its worth the risk after this lol.. I mean i have 5 diff zoas in my tank and never had issues with them but then ive never scraped em off rocks to frag em either..

What do you guys think ? Take it out of ny rock or keep em. Was i poisoned or do you think its just the chills from the weather ?

Hmm ill just take it out and trash em. Not worth getting sick over eveb though they are pretty.

I dont think im getting anymore zoas either keep the ones i got and call it a day.

Last night i felt like crap

You can bleach the rocks and it will kill palys. I would just make sure to do it outside.

Well i dont need a rock. Ill just pry the glue off mine and drop the palya in the trash i guess i shoulda said that vs tossing my rock. The other rock is kinda large the original one they came on. But is it worth bleaching it ?

Just pried it off my rock the glue i use the white puddy stuff. Tossed em in trash.. ill leave charcoal in the tank today but it isnt worth it.. i dunno if i was poisoned last night from them or if it was the cold in the house so yea... never again lol

Lol, I'm not a doctor. But your symptoms sound similar (mine were not as bad) to when I fragged my palys outdoors in the summer.
I would guess it was the paly toxin.
We have about 5 different varieties in they are all pretty.

I keep them in locations were it shouldn't come back to bite me later.

But yeah, unless you have a real thing for enjoying them, I would probably toss the entire rock with some carbon and triple bag it.

Underwater they are perfectly fine. Unless you have cuts on your hands and you are brushing up against them.
Out of the water they can become a serious hospitalization issue, depending on what you are doing with their rock or them.
