It's my understanding this deadly toxin is present in some zoas and other items in the aquarium like live rock. It can also be aerosolized if boiled. However would this toxin be present in a dryed out hermit shell? I'm seeing people suggest boiling shells as a means to purify them for aquarium useage.... Thoughts?

There is no need, soak them in bleach water for a few days then pure RODI for 24 hrs. and you should be good. I don't and never have boiled anything in 25 years.

Palytoxin is found in zoas and palys....and is dangerous, and potentially deadly. Just take care in handing and fraging palys and zoas.....wear gloves and eye protection.

I break out with what I'll term contact dermatitis by simply touching them.
