I just did a water change and am freaking out a bit. The heater in the fresh saltwater bucket broke and there is a bunch of black crap in the bottom of the bucket. I didn't notice it until I had already put most of the water into the tank!

What should I do???

I'm guessing it's from the inside of my heater

run a hose and pour it out onto newspaper and discard. You can also vacuum out with a wet/dry vac. Its likely filament and residue from within heater

That the 'black crap' remains in the WC bucket is obviously a good thing. Odds are your tank is fine. Might want to run a polyfilter/carbon for a while just to be safe.

This is the Poly Filter. It removes a lot! Your LFS should have it too.
