Panic's 360g SPS Peninsula

I got word that my tank is almost done or done and curing at the shop. Stoked! He said I should have it within 2 weeks.

I bought a Hanna checker for Alk and it shows 6.9 while my salifert test shows 8.4. What the heck? A fellow reefer @t5Nitro checked my water with his Hanna the same day which was also 6.9. Whenever I get a new salifert test kit I check it with the old one to make sure they are consistent and they always have been. I never have them for more than a couple of months because I check Alk at least once a day. I wonder which of these kits is off 1.5?

Also the local reef shop brought in 4 Koi tangs, or aberrant scopas. This one is mine. Not the best photo since his color is still dark and washed out from shipping stress, but the face is deep cobalt blue and white. This guy is a really beautiful and unique fish. Nice and fat, as big as my hand, super active too. I went to see it yesterday and will leave it there for another week before I pick him up.

I picked up my Koi Tang since the tank won’t be here this week. I figured that he could make buddies with everybody else in the lagoon or I’d start putting the ones that were mean to him in time out. They were bullying him for awhile last night but after I fed mysis the 2nd time before I headed off to bed, he realized he was a lil bigger. This morning he’s very active and the bully fish have some holes in them and are very welcoming.

Here he is getting after some nori. The photo doesn’t pick it up, but there are some cool dark read streaks in the fins

I put the Aquatic Life fixture together and hung it with some simple screw-in dealymabobs that worked with the same wire that comes the AL kit. I anchored the mount in to the ceiling rafters with a 3” screw. I have the same fixture over my lagoon so when I’m ready for it, it’s ready to hang.

I’m pretty fired up also about upgrading cameras. I have a gen 1 Canon 5d that is great, but super tricky to get good photos now that my sticks are all under LED. I ordered a Canon EOS R which ought to be here next week. I know, I know, it’s the lens that is important. I have some nice glass, but this one will be more fun to use.

Got some new beer drinkin shoes too... laced up and ready to work, patiently, as the wife does critical preparations in front of the mirror when it’s past time to GO

Our new windows are finally in. They said it would be 12-14 weeks and it was done in 14 weeks. Nice job Window World! I have a few little paint touch ups to do but it’s worth it. These windows are way too big for me to tackle. Now for the tank...

I can’t wait to relax in this room once the tank is in there. The theater in the basement is the best and most used place in the house, but my sump room is my man cave.

Interesting you mention this, my Salifert reads a few dKH high vs Hanna and Trident as well... Strange

Sorry to hear about the Pink Lemonade colony, that thing was a serious beauty. Some of the best PE I've seen on the frag you sent over last year

With the legs like they are how do you get the sump under the stand? I hope it's not a lift the stand over the sump and set down because if it is there would be no way to change the sump without breaking down the tank if something happened.

Thanks, I miss the Pink Lemonade. I’ll be on the hunt for a new piece of it once I’m finished with the mourning process.

I feel like everything has grown 1/4” in the last few weeks after getting my dKH back to where it’s supposed to be. I really like the Hanna checker and regret not getting one sooner. It’s so fast and easy to read.

That yellow and green one is the WWC Afterparty. It’s a great piece

I have all the gear in the floor below, so the only extra stuff that you’ll see there is the tank. The plumbing to the basement will be hidden.

Oh no! I stopped using Reef Roids too. I bought some despite my knowledge of its tendency to raise phosphates. It raises my phosphates drastically, to the point that some of my sps have suffered from it. I prefer Benepets, Oyster Feast, and fish poop to feed the corals.

That koi Tang is stellar. Are you going to be keeping the lagoon up after this new system is installed? All the frags you shipped a while back are doing great!

I am loving the koi tang. He's still a little skittish and hangs out in one little area under one of the frag racks unless I'm feeding them. Each day he wanders a little further away from his safe place, and gives the other fish the business if they try to rough him up.

I'll keep the lagoon running and move the 36" Aquatic Life t5 hybrid from my small frag tank to light it. I'm moving the current light over the lagoon to the display tank after I get the corals moved in. The smal frag tank I will keep for housing new fish and corals as a qt tank since it's very easy to isolate from the rest of the system. I would ultimately like to completely isolate the frag tank/lagoon from the rest of the system, and might be my project for next winter.

I'm happy to see hear the frags are doing well. You know the rules, pics or it didn't happen...
