Panta Rhei hydro tube for closed loop?

Hello,

I'm just getting started designing my 7ft peninsula tank and have decided to go with a closed loop system instead of powerheads. I'm trying to decide what pumps to use and found the hydro tube. I really like the way the pump works but I can't find any reviews or builds that have used them. Is there anyone that has experience with them?

I don't have any experience with the "hydro tube" but when designing a closed loop one of my priorities is making sure it's easy to isolate and remove pumps to clean them.

Bump. These Have been out for a year now. Anyone tried them yet. Mine get delivered some time in the next month.

Your only hope will be the large tank section, or maybe Google. Panta Rhei are not for the tanks that most folks around here keep - both in size or cost. Most folks around here have not likely ever seen a closed loop.

Whatever you do, just make sure that you have threaded inserts on the bulkheads so that you can cap them if you need to, then ball valves and quick disconnects on the exterior lines.

Panta Rhei was not around the last time that I used a CL, but in general, I would avoid the seal and motor problems with ReeFlo pumps. AmpMaster, Lifeguard and others last longer and are more trouble free if you decide against the Panta Rhei - 14 Foot Reef has one that I forget the name of that has been reliable too.
