Anyone have any experience with a panther grouper. I think mine just ate an entire hermit crab. Shell and all! He looked like he choked for a good 4 or 5 mins but looks fine now. Is this normal?

Absolutely normal, Panther Groupers will eat anything they can fit in their (big) mouths. I had a roommate in the early 90's that had a Panther Grouper, Clown Trigger, and Niger Trigger. He fed them live crayfish and they would destroy them. That tank was nonstop carnage. The Panther got to be about 10 inches long eventually.
