Anyone have any suggestions? The pump is leaking. Tried to take it apart, checked the gasket, it was still in place, and reassembled the pump but it is still leaking. Any recommendations on how to fix this? Tempted to just cover it completely in silicon and hope for the best..

Pump leaks between the black plastic and white metal. I know silicon won’t adhere well but hoping it’ll stop it enough for the salt creep to finish sealing it lol

Is the impeller housing cracked anywhere? Did you tighten the screws in a criss cross pattern?

Managed to fix the one leak. Now there’s another, so guessing it’s leaking through the shaft into the motor housing.

Not sure if this is worth fixing or just buy a new pump

Water dripping from the bottom screw hole

That’s not good. PanWorld are magnetic drive so the shaft doesn’t go into the motor housing. Perhaps the internal volute is cracked. You should be able to pull it out of the metal pump chassis to reveal the drive magnet. PW pumps are yellow not white, how old is it? May be time to retire it.

I got this reactor off a guy on here. He said it was never used, but looks like the motor housing or something must be cracked. Cannot stop it from leaking. Looks like Black Friday is just in time to buy a new one!!

Or would someone recommend going with a different recirculating pump?

What model pump is the panworld?

How much head and what size is display?
You have return pump tee’d off to feed other equipment?

I wouldn’t be able to tee off of my return pump for this. I could for feeding the reactor, but this is the recirculating pump that needs replaced

Closed loop for circulation, or for return?

4’ head and 330g display. Return is dedicated for display. Not running any other equipment outside of the tank/sump other than the Ca reactor, which is fed by a maxijet

That pump with no head is giving you 480gph. At the 4’ head that you have would guesstimate you are getting around 1x your display tank volume per hour. You should shoot for at least 3x.
You could get a jebao, eflux, or other dc pump much bigger, with less noise and heat, that could easily give you 3x display volume or more turnover, that is also adjustable up or down with the push of a bottom. Personally would get a Jebao DCT 15000. Have them on many tanks for years with no cleaning and no issues

The panworld is only used as a recirculating pump on the ca reactor.

I use a cor20 pump for the return on the display tank, have plenty of flow there
