So i've heard quite a bit about these guys as of late. I was in lowe's a few days ago looking at bulb's for the house and noticed they sold par 38 led's. They are 67bux. They are around 6k i think. Anyone know about these bulb's? I was thinking you could use a few of these and then use a reefbright led actinic to make them look better.

I dont see why not. May induce slightly more algal growth but if you keep your pH higher (8.3 or 8.4 ish) It shouldnt be a problem. I am a firm believer in supplying corals with a full spectrum of light thats how it is in nature. Then take advantage of true color properties with the blues so they glow :P

Coralbandit, do you have any idea how much spread they have? I may give them a go. I have a 40" tank and was thinking if i can get away with 2-3 and a led reefbright setup, it could be pretty nice, and low electricity.

Most of these are going to be in the warm to neutral white color temps (3000-5500K), and wil look a lot more yellow/red than a cool white (6500K) lamp will. It will still look very yellow over a tank. Adding blue suppliments will help some, but you will always get separation and banding of colors.

Yea _ I saw these last weekend too! They are GE branded and had a 30 and 38 par. Couldn't find a K rating but didn't read every line. Might be worth buying one to see what it looks like and return if it sucks..Lowes is pretty good at taking returns. What would we use to supplement with actinic of blue spectrum.

Yep, if they were 6500k it would pry work, i'll have to check to see if they are in the 3-5k range. I bet your right though.
