I'm in the process of purchasing a par meter for my metal halides and OR3 (supplemental) lights. I know many meters are geared toward LED's, so I'm wondering if the par taken would be accurate from a metal halide source. Are meters light specific? Currently looking at the Neptune Apex PMK.

With halides and OR3s, you don't really need a PAR meter. They weren't necessary until people started using LEDs.

I’m not as much concerned with burning my corals, which can happen more frequent with leds. My concern is knowing if I’m getting enough par or if I need to lower the fixture by a few inches.
