I am looking into a par meter and what I would like to know is how many of you actually use one? If you do what one do you use? Is it worth the money? Thank you!

I was looking at that one . Is it an eye sore to see the wire all the time?

It could be depending on where you put it. If I want to get a reading in a part of the tank where the cord would stretch down the middle of the tank, I only leave it there for a day or two. Just long enough to get a really good idea of the par of that area. The rest of the time I keep it in the back end of my peninsula so the cord is against the black backing and you really cant notice it, unless you were looking for it.

I bought the Seneye. It works well enough. It is a shame to spend $200 for something that gets so little use, but I feel it's important to know your actual intensity. A lux meter is a cheap alternative to get a feel for the lighting

Awesome! Thank you
It also helps to think of the cord as not so much of an eye sore, but as an opportunity for snails to hone their high wire act!

That’s my thoughts.

I’m goin back and forth right now between the seneye or the apex par meter

I think it depends how you intend on using it. I find taking a measurement at the surface of the water with my cheap $8 lux meter to be more useful and far easier when I change settings or am comparing one tank's lighting to another.

I picked up the Apex PMK recently. It seems to work well. It's nice to have it in there all the time, but the rock it comes with sticks out like a sore thumb in the tank. When I want to move it around to check different locations, its kind of a pain with the rock as well. I can definitely see the benefit of having the sensor on a wand.

Has anyone checked the PMK's accuracy against other meters? I have watched the BRS video comparing the Seneye to the Apogee, but haven't seen anything comparing the PMK.

That was my thoughts on the rock along with you he cord. But on the other hand it can constantly monitor your par.

I have an apogee 510. I use it about weekly. I have MH lights and the different between 750 and 1000 PAR is a big deal to some acros, so I use it a lot while moving my corals to a different tank.

Thank you for the reply! Is that a lux meter or a par meter? The apogee 510?

+1 for the seneye comments. I use it and it works.

Thank you SalimSeven! Belive it or not I've herd good and bad about both. The Apex model o can leave in and the seneye to me has a much better looking interface
