What is the best way to measure Par with a seneye? I attached mine to a stick to measure at different levels. Is it normal for the Par number to bounce around? I took a picture of the seneye screen showing spectrum par and pur. How does this look?

PAR is important, but PUR is equally important. 79% of your light is in a usable spectrum for chlorophyl in corals. Par will always be varying through a tank...

I find it best to measure with flow off and a steady hand. Also make sure that the sensor is parallel to the surface of the water. You should be able to get a decent set of numbers to average your PAR. 79 PUR, however, is very good.

the 79% PUR is a reading that is relative to your lighting, as engineered by the manufacturer. The par is how bright it is. Bright is not always good. PUR and PAR need to be balanced.
Check out this BRS video. It will give you and Idea of lighting. Its good. I watched it and they did a good job. Its about refugium lighting but it 100% applies.

Hold the probe still , you can “rock it “ back and forth slightly in the Same spot and the reading will fluctuate slightly. Look for the higher reading.

The small drawback to the seney is is an optical sensor so it has a field of view like a camera(it is a camera btw)

Don’t sweat the pur man. It’s an Sb reeflight. Don’t tweak or any thing chasing pur is silly.
pur will go down when other colors are added. Like green. If you didn’t add green and other colors it would look like one of those pink grow lights. (Violet blue +red =pink).

So set the color to your liking and then set the par. (Intensity)
