Has anyone had success in keeping multibar or venustus Angelfish, I'm sure there's other threads like this but I'm curious as a lot of sources tend to give me the doom and gloom idea, and I really quite like these fish

I’ve had a few multibars over the past 40+ yrs including a pair for 5 yrs.
I plan on adding another pair to my new 500g tank soon. I will have a separate QT reef tank for them, well stocked with pods to get them feeding. I’ll start with 3 to increase chances.

I tried the multibar once.....it refused to eat and wasted away over a period of a couple of weeks. Also a very shy, reclusive fish....won't do well with a lot of boisterous fish.

My pair was in a 450g DT with 80 fish, including 40 very active wrasses. Probably have a video somewhere of them.

Thanks for the replies, do you think one could live in a red sea Reefer 350, as the only grazing fish, apart from leopard and tamarin wrasses and a Mandarin, also other experiences are appreciated

I’d suggest that you keep a high pod population for the mandarin and multibar

I’d suggest getting 1 to survive before thinking about multiples
