I got a very nice frag from Paradaise a month or two ago. When it came in the color was great but has since gotten very pale. I put it on my sandbed right next to my ECC Hybrid Watermelon. Not close enough to fight or anything, I dont even know if they would. I thought that maybe it was getting too much light so I moved it to a more shaded area. Since then the color had continued to fade and has become very bland. I dont see it receding or anything, just looks terrible.

So now, the obvious move it to start moving it to a higher light area. I just want to check with others and see what their thoughts are. Its a 4' 120g with 2 phoenix 250w and 4 uvl t5's. Parameters are all in check.

I dunno. How long since you moved it into more shade? I might give it a little longer to recover before moving it up. In my experience a pale chalice rarely improves from more light. Might want to give it some time to come around. Feed 'em too if you can. If they are losing zooxanthellae, they'll need an alternate source of nutrition.

i have mine on the sand bed under 14k 250 double end they like low to med light
