Could someone tell me the difference between Paraguard made my Seachem and Prazipro made by Hikari? Anyone have experience using these? Is there a difference in them, does one work better than the other? Can you use them together? I'm asking because I have a quarantine tank and would like to buy some medication just to have on hand if I need them. I see a lot of people have used Prazipro for QT but I haven't seen anything about the Seachem brand.

Prazipro is a solid dewormer which treats gill flukes and most internal parasites. Some stubborn strains of the latter need to be treated with metronidazole instead.

I'm not 100% sure what Paraguard does. It's listed ingredients as per the mfg ("ParaGuard™ employs a proprietary, synergistic blend of aldehydes, malachite green, and fish protective polymers") suggests that it is more of a disease management tool than eradication.

I list some medications I have experience with here and also the "bare essentials" to keep on hand (look at the bottom): https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/medications-to-keep-on-hand.213574/

Paraguard is not effective against flukes. I answered some basic prazi info in your other thread. Here is an excerpt from our current quarantine protocol:

Day 35: Praziquantel Treatment #1
Confirm copper has been removed adequately to drop the concentration to less than 1 ppm. Copper and Prazi should not be administered simultaneously.
Add Prazipro to the QT per the instructions on the label.
Ensure the additional oxygenation source is working. This treatment will potentially reduce the oxygen levels within the QT to critical levels without additional air flow.

Day 42, Day 49: Praziquantel Treatment #2, #3
Add Prazipro to the QT per the instructions on the label, 7 days apart. Spacing needed for these treatments is based on killing new flukes hatching from previously laid eggs. The time interval is not well known. A range of 7 to 9 days seems to give the best results.

Paraguard is an aldehyde and malachite green mix that seems to work for things brook.
