I keep my alk at 9, cal at 430, and Mg at 1400. I use reef crystals and my mixed water is alk 8.5, cal 500, and Mg 1500 at 1.026. How do I avoid swings in parameters when doing water changes? Thanks gang!

How large is your system, how much of a WC? If it's around 10%, I don't see much of an impact. Also, the alk looks a little low and Mg a tad high for RC mixed @ 1.026. I would make sure you mix your salt mix before using it, to insure there isn't any elemental stratification due to shipping.

It's the reason I've gone back to good old Instant Ocean. As their advertising states, "It's the ocean."

It's a 40B and I generally do a 5 gallon water change; I have been mixing the salt well before making a batch too; the cal and mg tend to mix on the high side for me.
