Hi Randy,

I know you do continuous water change.

Knowing that, I finally setup a masterflex peristaltic pump for 5 ml/min.... 60 gallons a month continuous exchange in my brand new 240 DT setup.
My issue is the salt water that is stored in the 75g container drops parameters significantly.
I assumed I can keep salt water and it will stay stable for a month... less maintenance, but apparently not.

How do you keep the stored salt water from changing parameters?
Or does it matter if it is so slow exchange?
I will soon have a calcium reactor.... will that keep the numbers stable?

Have you detected the values in the new salt water to change? What salt mix?

Keeping it unheated and unstirred will reduce the likelihood of precipitation. I never worried about it and never measured it over time.

Thank you for your reply:

Kent marine salt
New fresh SW values were:
1.026
Dkh 11
Calc 560

3 weeks later, still in that container
Dkh 4,
Calcl 480

I always 'assumed' that there should be flow in the stored saltwater..... hence had a power head in there all the time.
Should I just not keep any flow after say 2 hrs of mixing the salt?
Do I need an air stone? Or there is no advantage either.
I Don't use any heater.... it's just 5 ml per minute....

Also I am liking the idea of not measuring any parameters there... it is safe to assume as it's such a slow exchange... the calcium reactor will take care of keeping it stable?

Thank you
Awais
