i followed BRS instructions for to test after 2 days but as you can see the alk went up & cal stayed the same. i dont know how the levels are not dropping with this many corals.
i have tissue recession on some of LPS just going up the stock. you can see what im talking about here https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/euphyllia-coral-help.711859/#post-7365275.
so i wanted to start dosing to keep the levels constant.
& raise calcium up to where it should be.

anybody have any thoughts on this? should i wait longer test again after a week? i feel like these levels would get used up quicker.

Looks like you upgraded from a 13 to a 25 . Added a different light and a bunch of corals. It can be the change in lighting or flow that is causing of some your problems. Just a thought

Same light. I’ve added corals over the course of a few months not all at once. Probably half came from the 13.5

Any idea why the alk & cal isn’t being consumed?

What test kit are you using? I wouldn't worry too much about the alk going up, I would raise your calc. I generally don't raise it more than 50 in a day. I'd bump it up about 25 a day, maybe chill around 350-375 for a day or two then finish it out in the 400-425 range.

A phosphate test kit is good to have on hand as well. You can also probably quite checking nitrates. Once the tank is cycled you should get any of that.

I’m using a Hanna for alk
I also have Hanna for cal but use api as well.
i also test for nitrates because from what i understand LPS like a little " dirty water"

thanks for the reply I’ll use brs calculator to start bumping calcium

Oh yeah I would trust your results then. Hanna are nice. Hanna calc i have heard are difficult. I like the red Sea for calcium. I trust it pretty good.
