4 weeks ago I placed my Scribbled angelfish in Cupramine for Marine Ich. The past couple days I have noticed a clearly delineated, translucent areas appearing on the skin. Visible best from a head-on view.

I've been doing a lot of research so I can properly treat my fish accordingly... I just can't seem to figure it out. He is my only fish in the QT tank and I pulling water from my DT to complete water changes. I have had him for approx 70 days and randomly this is happening. Link of video below..

Two questions:

Is feasible for him to pick up a new disease randomly when my DT is fallow?

Can anyone help me identify what this is so I can properly treat?

I'd appreciate the feedback please :)

It could be discoloration that I’ve noticed to happen in copper with them. Could you post pics?

Thank you EmdeReef for the quick response. He is eating like a pig, swimming and comes to the front of the tank when I approach it. I did a freshwater dip yesterday for 7 minutes which he did great but didn't eliminate the filmy looking spots.

Here are some images but its hard to capture in the photo. I also placed a video on my FB account Patrick Hotchkiss if you want to see it there since it won't upload on here for some reason. :(

Beautiful fish!
I would think that’s probably some copper related irritation. Don’t think it’s a cause for alarm. I think it will clear up after you are done with copper.

If he’s been in therapeutic copper for 4 weeks you are basically done in 2 days or can even transfer to a clean tank now.

@HotRocks?

Thanks for your feedback. I hope that's all it is. I love this fish and want to be prepared for worse case scenario... Don't want to get caught with my pants down and not have the proper medication to treat.

A common danger with copper treatment is a secondary bacterial infection. Those area you are seeing are probably the Ich insertion locations and are responding to the copper and trying to heal. Copper being an immunosuppressant can be interfering with the angel's immune system trying to heal. So keep a close eye on those spots. Always a good idea to have broad spectrum antibiotics on hand like: Kanaplex, Furan2, Sulfaplex, but in particular for angels NFG is golden for those "red sores" that seem to pop up. Beautiful fish.

Thanks Big G. Appreciate you taking the time to chime in. I will keep an eye out and feed well and maintaining good water conditions.
