Parasite ID. Worm thing on tang's fin

What might this weird worm thing hanging off the anal fin of my tang be? is it an anchor worm?

Looks large to be an anchoworm. They are rare in SW fish. It's not impossible though.

Hard to tell a whole lot from the pics. Does ot have a forked tail? Have you tried removing it with tweezers?

doesn't appear to have a forked tail. Should I try a freshwater dip before I try the tweezer route? If I pull it off with tweezers should I worry about infection where it was attached and if so, how should I fight that?

I would dip it first. Yes, for 5min.

You should definitely keep an eye on the insertion point. If it becomes infected then you could treat.

The dip went ok, but the worm didn't release, I pulled it off and put him back in the tank. He looks a little pale now, but doesn't seem to be in too much distress
