Took this pic the other day, i got this torch frag a week ago on sunday. Looking at the picture i noticed a transparent thing sticking out of the coral. What is it ?

Honestly cant tell if it retrats but torch hasnt opened all the way in a week, it has looked this way since last sunday a week and 3 days

Maybe a clear sponge? Some species use toxins, mucus, etc. to kill corals and then take over/grow on their skeletons - might explain why your torch has closed.

I would remove it if at all possible.

That's wild. Not sure exactly what it is, but I'd try manually removing it and see what happens.

If you twisted my arm, I'd say some sort of mucus tube from a worm of some sort, but 100% shot from the hip...
