Hopefully these pictures are of good enough quality! I'm too sure what these white parasitic animals are on my snails, but they seem to be on all three astrea's. Also, my turbo snails have just up and died, yet no other inverts/fish have died. What's going on?

I have always had these show up on snails in just about every one of my tanks. I have not had them identified but it's obvious they are snails.

I never see any adverse effects but also never see them get any larger than that.

#2...Pyramid snails or some other parasitic snail.

I had a friend who got those and he had to remove every snail from his display for several months to starve them out.
I think they feed on clams too.

Definite Pyaramallid snails. Remove them with a toothbrush, daily, for the next week or so. You'll need to do this daily, or every other day, as eggs hatch. These snails will also infest and harm clams so if you have any clams, check them very closely, on a regular basis. 6 lined wrasses are known to eat them.

Seriously?? I have never had an issue with them...they just appear and then disappear! Although large tanks are constantly having CUC's restocked...So I could see how I could overlook the death of a few snails..off to do some reading!!

Should I just scrub them off and let them fall in the tank or should I try my best to catch them in a net and scoop em out? I have no clams (my tank is nowhere ready for that, I'm dealing with too many problems) thanks for the input guys and thanks mstansbery for the article!

I would do is transfer all of the clean up crew to a separate container to remove the parasites.
The problem is for every snail you see there are probably 10 you do not see living in the sand, and there are probably 10 to 100x that number in eggs.

You are lucky you don't have any clams!

Get a bucket with some tank water in it. Put as many of your cuc snails in the bucket as you can find. Scrub each snail off in the bucket and rinse them with clean tank water. Then put the clean snail back in the tank. This needs to be done until you see no more pyramid snails or eggs on your cuc snails.

My Mexican turbo snail has at least tentacle in the mid-section of the Turbo's foot. Tonight I learned that these tenticles are actually the tongue of a parasite hiding under the shell and foot. The snail seems to be perfect healthy in behaviors despite parasite heads are attached in it. It looked like the parasite had a fish-like head, and it was sort of troll fishing the water using a Mexican Turbo Crab as transport.
Does anyone idea what this, what I should do about, what damage it can cause, and finally how to remove them safely?
Should I attempt to completely remove the probably parasites?
