I have a red tailed wrasse in QT. I used algae, beach sand and natural seawater collected locally to make sure there was stuff for him to eat. Unfortunately, I was unlucky to have a parasitic isopod in the algae, and it has attached to the mouth of the wrasse. It is still able to eat, so not in panic mode, but need to kill the isopod. I have read I can use Ivermectin for treatment. I do not have this on hand. Any suggestion of the best place to buy and what dose to use? I have Prazipro, will this do anything for isopods? Are the other medications that can be used for external isopods? I appreciate any help.

I agree manual removal is best and not as daunting as it sounds.

Regarding ivermectin, it is available at any farm store in the horse aisle. I buy tons of it for my dogs. That said I have never used it for fish so I have no idea how to proceed should you go that route.

Thanks for the replies. Went to look at fish again to net it and isopod was detached. Good news, bad news. Now it is still in the tank but at least I can look at this fish easier now without feeling bad for it.

Can you transfer the fish...let the pod starve..

Prazi will do nothing to the pod. I dosed it in my fuge to see what reaction it would have on flat worms. All my pods are still alive and kickin
