Paring clowns

It's possible.. but hiiiighly unlikely. I wouldn't have a maroon with any other clown species in a tank any smaller than a 75g with the maroon hosting a nem
there is just LR right now, I was thinking about getting a mesh breader and keeping him in there for a few days after qt

Maroons are incredibly aggressive and I doubt you'll get them to mate... if you did psh that would be sweet... just think about how much a black lighting maroon would sell for... hahaha

What size tank? If you just started it up, you could add the black ocellaris first then wait a month or so to let him get used to the tank before adding the maroon. You should certainly use the breeder box on the maroon for at least a week when putting it in. Start the maroon a bit smaller than the other clown as well.

I really hope it goes well worst comes to worst I can always bring the black ocellaris back to the LFS.. I just dont want to be selfish and put one of them at risk if it not possible

Chances are very slim, and it definitely does come w/ risk, but you should be able to tell while it's in the breeder box if the maroon is accepting or trying to kill it.

14 biocube, the maroon is the only fish in the tank

Yeah that size tank certainly does not make things better, it's barely big enough for the one maroon, and really should be in a bigger tank already as it is, that's going to be an angry maroon confined in that space, I would not expect it to share space w/ any other clown and probably not even another maroon much less a mismatch of species.

correct me if I am wrong but I believe the blood orange clown comes from breeding a maroon with an Orange Ocellaris so if this is true I would think it is possible ...after all I have a skunk and a Blood orange in my tank that are fine together quite the pair...

agreed throwing the idea out, but dude a black lighting maroon would be an awesome fish.

i mean everything would be impossible if you never try! im just going to try i will keep a close eye out and im going to put the black ocellaris in a breeder net for a week! we'll see[emoji29][emoji85]

Oh believe me it's been tried many many times, rarely does it work, but the main issue here is that tank is really pretty small for the both, just fyi.

Like daveocean said, its a small tank, even for a single clownfish. Trying to put two in such a small tank is a little cruel IMO.
I wanted clowns in my 13.5 evo so bad that I bought a 32 biocube :D

I advise heavily against. As I said a few posts back, i would be cautious about housing these fish together in a 75 gallon tank... Being that the maroon is the only/ first fish in the tank, ANY fish you get from here on is going to be subject to aggression

I did exactly this when i started my 55 gal cube, maroon with a black ocellaris....... The ocellaris ended up finding the 1" open strip between my cover and tank wall and took a long jump to the floor out of it just to get away.
