Hello! We just upgraded our tank and are trying to keep it dosed daily with Reef Fusion part 1&2. My fiancé is very good at keeping up with these things but last night it was my turn and I successfully dosed part 1 (the calcium), I had part 2 (the alkalinity) measured out and ready to go in but since you’re supposed to wait a few minutes to pour #2 I forgot about it!! Our alkalinity levels are off now..I am wondering though. Since we missed #2 last night would we continue on with our daily doses of 1 & 2 for today but do an extra dose of #2 since it is off balance and was forgotten yesterday or what? Help please, new fish going in the tank tonight so we need these levels to be right!

Alkalinity is now at 9.0, however, it was 10.8 yesterday. The tank is new to us so we haven’t nailed down a daily consumption yet. We typically dose 20 milliliters of part 1 & 2, but we just started doubling the part 1 dose in an attempt to raise our calcium. We do have livestock, it’s a year old fully cycled system that we bought from someone, livestock and all.

So you're trying to maintain 10.8? I would just dose it back up to your target but don't exceed 1dKH increase per day. You might want to look at purchasing an automatic doser if your consumption is 1.8+ dKH per day. I imagine swings that big missing a dose would be bad for the corals and stability of the tank. Once you get it back to where you want it, test it again before your next dose and see if it matches close to that same drop of 1.8. Then, if so, you'll know your daily alk consumption. Maybe setting a timer on your phone to help remember to dose would help. I do that while making RO/DI...its saved me plenty. Ha!

I assume your dosing because your corals are taking up the ALK and CA faster than water changes can fix

I have used these two products for years. The fact that they we’re dosed simultaneously in this instance would be not be an issue.

minutes between the doses is fine, dose them on separate sides.

In my case, after 4 years, I dose this product hourly, and in the same amount and am not getting any flux whatsoever.
While it may not be one to one ratio, each batch seems to be the same which I like because it adds to the consistency of the solution, which leads to stability. It is more expensive than mixing my own, I was just not good at getting the mix, perfect every time.

Fish don’t care much about Alk, CA or MG, (within reason of course) so no issue about adding fish.

Alk is the one (along with salinity) that I keep on-point at all times. Flux’s more than .5dkh should be avoided. E44E09C1-3E5F-4CF1-8F5E-4DF03263B4B7.jpeg
