I’m setting up a new RSR 3XL 900. I was considering a dry rock and Dr. Tim’s cycle procedure but I’ve been reading a lot about diversification and thought I would get some live rock to add to the process. I saw some live rock at LFS but I also noticed in a different tank some bryopsis - if I purchase some live rock from them is there something I can do to ensure I’m not introducing unwanted stuff into my system without losing the benefit of the diversified bacteria?

If you are using Dr. Tim’s then I would just go all dry rock. That way you don’t risk introducing anything bad. I’ve used Dr. Tim’s for multiple cycles and it works great. If you are worried about diversity, you can use Dr. Tim’s with version from other brands like Brightwell.
