So here’s the funny thing, I was going to go with the bare bottom trend for increased flow and after moving some of the sand over the last few weeks I realized that I’m actually liking the half sand bare bottom look. The increased flow pushed the sand to one end for a couple of weeks and after my last water change/sand removal the sand has finally stopped moving everywhere. Most of my LPS is on the “sandy” side and I’m really liking it! The only issue I have is since I started with sand I had no preplan for light coming up from the refugium. Can anyone tell me if corraline algae will eventually cover it up or am I going to have to place something under the tank? Let me know what you think of the look. The bare side is where my SPS is and the tank is a 65 gallon

I would use something to block the light, I assume you're on a reverse lighting schedule. A sheet of abs plastic or something similar may work well so your dt can rest at night in the dark and prevent unwanted algae growth. Honestly, if you like the look, it's your tank and you should keep it how you like it just so long as it's not detrimental to your livestock
