So basically I have a tank set up and, put my live sand in and live rock in, but haven’t current got my saltwater the rock is now only just partially submerged, as the sand is in seawater the rock that is in the water should live as it is in seawater conditions? Or have I killed the rock that is submerged?

Welcome to R2R! What kind of rock is it? Can you share a picture of tank?

if you can just keep it damp until the tank is full much of the life on it will be just fine.

It’s live rock and not currently as I’m away

There are lots of different kinds of live rock.. real live rock from the ocean, man made live rock that’s populated with beneficial bacteria and mined dry rock that your LFS might be holding in a grow out tank to seed with bacteria (typically whitish looking).

Unless it’s rock right out of the ocean or well established dry rock covered with organisms from someone’s else’s system it doesn’t really need to be submerged, man made rock or previously dry mined rock will repopulate with beneficial bacteria when you cycle your tank.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I thought that but I have put the manufactured live rock in by accident I didn’t know if this means I have activated it? As I haven’t filled it yet I didn’t know if my rock would die?

That type of rock will be just fine until you fill your tank and start your cycle.
