Hey everyone!

Found some good camera phone setting to take pictures and wanted to give it a try. Things are going great. A lot of encrusting going on. Think I've got most the names. Fish thought they were getting food. Hope you enjoy! My BC Adam Bomb fell into the rock structure for over a couple weeks and is in recovery... it's pink with purple tips currently. It's in high par and flow currently, probably 400+ being about 24" directly under a MH. On the list for the par meter and will know for sure when it comes.

Actually broke out some test kits tonight... been a while. Everything has been looking great, but I have added a bunch. Will probably test over the next couple of days just to be safe. I did do a large water change today, I say large, but it was probably 15g. Normally do 5gal/day with AWC.

Salifert test kits tonight. Red Sea tomorrow.

Alk - 11.5
Cal - 480
Nitrate - 2

So I'm thinking about adding a couple more gyre's to eliminate some dead spots in the tank. I'm hoping this may also eliminate some of the detritus from getting under the corners of the starboard. I was hoping to get a couple mp10s or 40s, but I just don't want to spend that much when I can get two gyres for the cost of one MP10 almost. The black lines are where I'm thinking about putting them. Orange is my dead spots as you can see some build up. I'm curious if a controller can run 1 gyre 250 and 1 gyre 230 or if they have to be the same model? Anyone know?

well not a great update, but it is needed to hopefully help others learn from my mistakes...

Recently discovered a couple of my fish showing signs of Velvet. All of my fish have been in my tank since August. So yes I was shocked as my knowledge of diseases is very limited. I owned zero equipment for quarantine since typically I would not add fish after the tank is stocked. Turns out Velvet can travel on corals. I do dip with Bayer and change frag plugs, but I guess it can survive that. Long story short my corals were dipped and went into the display... in the end I had to rush to get a qt tank setup and running and also find meds to treat velvet. I have no LFS so Amazon was the fastest. Four days to wait even with Prime.

Tonight I had to empty my tank completely. All corals, all rock to catch the fish and give them a freshwater bath to hopefully buy them a few days. Two have already stopped eating. 12 hours later the tank is back together, corals in new spots, tank fallow until May 31st. Six fish in a 20gal tank.

Lesson: Get yourself setup for qt on fish and corals. Have meds on hand. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/medications-to-keep-on-hand.213574/#post-2445601

Here's to hoping everyone makes it. The full treatment starts Tuesday.

It has been a while since I've put up an update. If anyone out there is still following along...

All of my fish succumbed to Velvet, thank you amazon vendor for cancelling my medication order without telling me. The tank will remain fallow until June 1st. I'm reading up on getting my qt tank primed and ready to go for the next round of fish. Keeping the tank striving without fish is much harder then expected. Nitrates continue to drop undetectable even without my skimmer running. So I've shutdown my AWC for the time being. Calcium is above 500 and my Alk tested to 12.5 tonight. I'm not sure how they are that high, but I will be testing more often.

Came home to thousands of pods on the glass. Something I've never experienced before. While there is some excess algae on the back wall because I've been away, it was still new to me. One of my milli's had basically rtn'd in the course of a day so I had to make sure that's what they really were. Other milli's seem to be doing fine with great PE. I blame myself for not feeding the tank like I was when there was fish. Chaeto and Lettuce are growing great in the sump, which isn't helping my nutrients, but I don't want to stop it now. I did pick up some potassium nitrate from green leaf and will begin dosing it.

That table looks awesome. Its what table top gamer dreams are made of. Perfect dimensions for war gaming with ample card space too so you aren't squeezing them under the map... oh, sorry, I let my other hobby side show for a moment there :)

Did you happen to get a good answer for this? I would be interested in learning from this post too.

Working on my new stocking list, but also reading up on some others list. All while learning what I can about QT.
I'm so bummed to catch up on your thread and see the wall you've hit. You're almost at a month left, so that's good. Anything on your stocking list that you didn't have before that you may be really looking forward to?
Now that I'm done making an initial equipment list I'm starting to look into the QT set-up I'm going to make. Are you planning on having yours visible to visitors or keeping it in a closet or hidden area?

Thanks for sharing the article about meds, that was very useful and was immediately bookmarked for further research!

That's good to hear! I managed to sell three tables so i'm a busy guy. Glad I can appease some other hobby's though!

Didn't get much in replies on this post. My corals are doing well so I'm hesitant to make any unnecessary changes. Firm believer in not fixing unbroken things.

It's getting very close and I believe I have everything on hand to do a proper QT. I did start another post about my list and looking for input on what order to introduce them and who should be in QT together. I'm probably going to need a bigger QT tank for the sturgeon fish i'm interested in, but i'm still not set on what fish I'll be adding. My QT will be visible so that I can keep an eye on everyone.

Glad the article helped, this forum is a wealth of knowledge.

Getting closer and closer fish. Did some maintenance and noticed today the handful of chaeto I added to the sump is now a full garbage bag full. I'll offer some up to others once I get time. In the mean time here's some pics I took today.

Happy to report a successful fish QT completed and they have been introduced to their new home. After being fallow for almost 13 weeks I have added the following. It's almost like starting over again.

Blue Hippo Tang
Yellow Tang
Sailfin Tang
Carpenters Flasher Wrasse
2 Ocellaris Clownfish, Captive-Bred

Did have one small hiccup where the Wrasse actually bit into my net and became stuck. I had to cut him loose from the net and then remove part that was stuck to him with tweezers... was interesting to say the least. Everyone is eating and doing very well. I will get pictures up next time I am home.

I am looking into moving from Coral Pro salt to Tropic Marine. This will take some work and I'm very nervous about changing the alk so much, but it will be a slow process in the end that will help keep my AWC station maintained. My corals are doing great and I will post more pictures of them as well.

Happy Reefing all
