I have read that generally:
Filter socks remove larger particles
Skimmers also remove varying sizes of organics (right? Should I think of this as middle size cmpds?
Refugiums remove smaller compounds

I've read one simple way coral polyps eat is by passively sieving particles out of the water. Does anyone know what size/type of suspended particles corals can most easily uptake? I suppose it depends on the coral but let me know your thoughts! There are many ways to lower nutrients and meet parameter goals but which leaves the coral suspended material they can make use of?

Perhaps this belongs in the chem section @Randy Holmes-Farley (who is my personal hero btw :))

I can't give you an exact size of the particles, but think on the size of phytoplankton size for many corals. But, it does depend on the coral.

I run filter socks, but many pass on the use of filter socks in order to allow more particulates to be suspended from time to time, which can also feed coral.

particle size? Reef roids particle size lol. Most people turn their skimmers off and use socks that aren’t as fine or simply remove the socks when feeding that way. I personally spot feed because I don’t have to use as much food that way.
