my corals seem to be turning pastel shades in my aquarium. my lighting is ati sunpower 8x39. 57 gallon tank. reef octopus skimmer xs 160. 2 mp10s. and i run a small amount of carbon changed monthly.
the corals both lps and sps grow well and appear healthy but the shades of color turn "pastel".... any ideas?

couple questions.

1. Are you trying to run a low nutrient system?

2. Did they all of a sudden start looking light or have they always looked like that?

3. Have you recently made any changes that could contribute like new bulbs or start running GFO?

4. How many fish do you have and how often do you feed?

5. What is your chemistry like? Especially your Alk.

water parameters are in check alk is 8. i have 5 small fish fed just about everyday. as far as the corals go, they seem to have and inital lose of color then they maintain their current color. they look nice but if they turned any more pastel it would be to much. just hit the 6 month mark on lights so i am changing out two bulbs per week for a month.
