hi everyone- I posted on this a couple of weeks ago under the title white dots, but I’m starting a new thread because actually this isnt white dots. These are more like white patches and I’m hoping someone can ID for me.

Bought this tang from my LFS. Brought him home and he immediately showed signs of ick so he went into QT and completed 30 days of copper power. The ick seems to have resolved but he has slowly shown signs of these white patches. But what is weird is I can’t really see them when I look straight on, I have to be looking at him from a side angle. Got some feedback that they may be flukes so I did a freshwater bath. Didn’t see evidence of flukes in bucket but I know that doesn’t mean the flukes aren’t there. I started a round of prazipro and we are now on day 4 of it and I don’t see any improvement. I plan to do another round of prazi in a few days but definitely don’t want to put him in my DT until I figure out and treat whatever the heck this might be. Anyone have any suggestions if it doesn’t resolve with a second round of prazi? He is eating well and doesn’t show signs of distress. Some twitching though. Thank you!

Probably secondary infection from the ich. Is he eating well, and acting normally otherwise?

You could go two ways... if you feel it is minor, you could up feeding - making sure to include selcon or vita-chem soaked frozen and algae, live worms, fresh clams, etc. Keep water quality as good as possible, and see if it resolves on it's own.

Otherwise, you may need antibiotics to help him fight it off. Furan-2 and Triple Sulfa are both good choices to start.

Yep eating very well and acting normally except I do see him twitching occasionally. No scratching or anything though that I see.

Thanks so much for the recommendations- much appreciated!

Can I like this more than once?..

give that guy lots of health eats like mentioned. My go to in order is blackworms, algea/nori sheets with a few drops of Selcon or zoecon soaked in, and freshly frozen clams sliced up. Clams I may stay away from if not familiar with them. Just because I would suggest first you read up on them before attempting. Frozen mega Algea i also like. A balance of food and meds as needed will get him over that last hurdle.

He looks really nice.
