About to start my first fill today. Can’t flipping wait

tl/dr; want to store/mix water on Florida, screened, shaded patio and plumb for automation...but have questions.

On topic, my plan WAS to build a mixing station in my garage, plumb my RO/DI and use buckets allowing time for water to acclimate. Automation would not be a day 1 thing. Longer term consider running pvc through attic to fish room, automate, but admittedly not easy and probably not to code

My wife says last night, why not store on the screened back porch? Which is on the other side of my fish room. Thought being I could hook RO/DI to outside spigot, and I’d have my mixing station. Poke a hold through the wall, run tubes for AWC and ATO, and I’d be off and running. Certainly seems like the safest option in the event of a leak (at least from that part of the system). Still not a day 1 thing but could do it soon.

1) NE Florida. Summers get as high as 94, hard freeze warnings a few nights a year. I’ve never measured temps on the patio but the screen makes a noticeable difference and Reservoirs would not be in direct sun. If setting up ATO and AWC I’ve read temp variances are okay and maybe only need to worry about a heater in the sump for cold nights? Maybe also only schedule during daytime hours (hard freezes are overnight and usually by AM we’re in the 40’s)

2) no drain available, so my RO/DI waste and salt from water change will essentially have to be run outside and drain into the grass (suppose I could dig a deep hole and fill with rock). Will salt damage grass and will I have to worry about things coming back up my 1/4’ tube? Mold? Probably should plan to replace every so often. I could add a third vessel for SW waste but still won’t be able to bring near a drain.

3) I’m estimating I’ll end up mixing SW every 3-4 weeks but with an AWC I can obviously increase that and plan to mix every 2-3 weeks. Assuming I could just circulate during that time but would rather not have a pump going 24/7 could I plan to mix it for a hour every few hours or because my AWC would be hooked up, would need to keep circulating. I suppose I could circulate and perform AWC only during certain times of the day, ensuring circulation kicks on sufficient time before AWC

Thanks in advance. New to all of this and quickly fell in love with the project side of reefing. Trying to make maintenance easier from the start. Every reefers goal right?

Holes in my plan I’m not thinking through?

I think it’s a good plan. I’m wondering if you could run your salt water from your wc to a sink drain line, etc. I would be a little nervous runnning salt water to my yard. I don’t think I would be concerned about the ambient temperature unless you had a long extended freeze.

No drain anywhere within 30 feet outside or without running PVC through my kitchen over hardwood floors. :)

Do you think salt water would harm the grass? I could bury deeper than planned, 3ft maybe?

Quick search...SW will kill grass. May have to find my sewer drain pipe now

I’m also reading that diluted SW will not harm which I would expect waste from RO/DI to dilute 1.5:1 (based on BRS water saver)

Too much conflicting info :)

The RODI line will be fine to the grass.

I know that there are elbows, etc for the RO line, and you can use cord hiding tracking along baseboard if you need to run salt line long distance. I suppose you could also bury the salt line outside, but I personally would see if I can get to a drain. Good luck.
