Looks simple enough. The only thing I am not sure about is the fine mesh- where to obtain it as well as whether it should be glued on or simply rubber-banded
I was thinking if we could just make it with a lid that stacked onto the base I could find and change out the mesh and change it out every few months

Use a stocking and make it removable as it doesn't last forever. :D

thanks for stopping by! That is what I'm going to do. Do you think it would help/hurt anything if i used a needle and put 5-6 pin pricks in the nylon to help them get out?

Don't do that. Especially if your wife is wearing them.

The holes in the stockings are the right size, you just have to find the right stockings and I am no expert on that. My wife got me a pair and they worked. (They didn't fit me anyway)
If the shrimp can't get through, the mandarins will suck them through.
Don't stretch the mesh or it gets to big. If you have sea urchins they can eat holes in the mesh.
