tank is doing well .no more diatoms. my parameters are 12 ppm nitrate 0 ppm nitrite 0 ppm .i would like to stop the nitrate from slowly rising.i am using a fuge with cheato .the cheato is growing.i have a oversize skimmer.10 percent water change weekly.although this week i will be doing 50 percent water change.

in 2 days will be 5 months since i put the fish in my tank.my parameters are 0 ppm ammonia 0 ppm nitrite 4 ppm nitrate. the cheato is growing well.i getting frustrated . that my nitrates keep on climbing no matter what i do.i feed the fish one pinch of flake every other day.i was thinking of bio pellets .any thoughts ?

How's it going. Good you got it cleared up. I don't think you should run biopellets and strip the nutrients completely cause that's when the bacteria stuff like cyano and dinos come into the picture. Tank looks good I think you should put tester corals in there and see how they do. I have the same tank and am looking to start cheato myself to see if I can keep phosphates down. That's my problem.

well in 3 days it will be 6 months since the cycle finished .i decided to go with bio pellets .i will see how that goes.i have cyano all ready.

Also the VCA noozles help with some more random flow.

I had one cyno out break at 3 months, but it cleared after daily siphon in about a week.

i am gone to using brs bio pellets .will be getting the reactor Tuesday.nice tank!

Thanks They are pretty easy to work with.

its over 6 months since the tank been up.nitrates @8ppm.phosphates @.04 ppm . i cannot seem to rid of cyano .is part of the ugly phase?will it go away on its own?

my nitrates 8 ppm .phosphates .02 ppm . is my phosphates too low?i started using bio pellets.

Forgive me for I am a newb who hasn’t even started his first tank yet, but I thought it was a good thing when your rock started turning purple.

yes it is cyano not coraline.

it has been 7 months since starting the tank .i still have cyano.

well it has been 10 months with the tank.i think my cyano is under control.now my zoas are closing up. my parameters are : 3 ppm nitrate .01 ppm phosphate .i have been using nopox.since my chaeto died .the nopox is being dose at 3ml per day.i would like some feed back why my zoas are closing.thanks paul
