Calling all Pax Bellum Arid users!

Are any users running their calcium injector assembly? I received mine and installed it a couple days ago. This thing appears to work just as advertised.
During the warmer months here in CA I've always dealt with more drastic pH swings because i lock down the house and run the A/C all the time. If I have the windows open, my swings are not nearly as much. I run a Ca Rx with a liter size secondary chamber and also have my skimmer air pulling through a CO2 absorber. This combo usually helps me keep my pH within 8.05 and 8.15 (apex measurement) during the fall and winter months.

Summer is a different story and my swings are from around 8.09 down to 7.6 because i have to close things up to keeps temp bearable .

I know chasing pH is not that important but i definitely notice much better growth when my pH is nearer to 8.2. I have no way to run my skimmer airline out to fresh air so that was out of the question. Another thing i have used in the past with some success was to fill a section of 2" i.d PVC pipe with Rx media, place it over the drain chamber of my sump and let the drip from the Rx effluent go through that. That worked as good as the CO2 scrubber I use now but i don't have room for that set up anymore. This is why i looked into the Pax Bellum injector but could not find any real reviews.

It's been pretty warm here lately and i decided to pull the trigger on the injector and after two days using it, my pH is pretty rock solid.
pH is steady at 8.1 peak and hasn't got lower than 8.05. I'm fine with those numbers as long as they stick.

I'll report back after more time with it. I'm just curious if anyone else is using one on this forum and if they have had a similar experience.

happy reefing

I’m contemplating running the Pax Bellum N18 after my avast seabones for my coming Reefer 500 build. What is your setup?

hello

my current set up is a 60 gal cube with 22 gallon sump. I'm running the N18 outside my stand plummed through a couple small holes i put through the stand wall. I made a wicker cover for the N18 so it looks pretty nice outside the cabinet. I'm pulling from the calcium injector with a kamoer peristaltic.

the injector assembly is rigged/zip tied to the side of the N18 with the pax bellum quick disconnects (a must) and the drip counter is mounted to the back of my stand for easy viewing. I'll get some pics of it up this weekend. set up works fantastic so far.

;)

i usually harvest weekly and have a full reactor from a little more than a baseball size of chaeto that i leave after harvest. if i let it go longer it is usually fine but any longer than a couple weeks and the chaeto starts choking itself out and i start losing some of the chaeto closest to the inner tube where the light is at it highest intensity. starts to brown out a little. The pax bellum light element is No Joke!!

I have the N24 and will be adding an injector.

Same issue, line in Phoenix and seal the house up each summer. My pH will drop to 7.6 range if I’m not careful.

Are you running a peristaltic pump? I’m currently running a Versa on my Carx and would like to keep using it since it is so easy to dial it in.

hello and hope you are doing well.

Yes, i run a kamoer peristaltic. you only need to run the biggest opening washer since you don't really need any significant pressure to feed the peristaltic pump. When i first set mine up it took a few hours for the drip rate to stabilize through the drip counter. After that it ran perfectly.
