Calling all Pax Bellum Arid users!
Are any users running their calcium injector assembly? I received mine and installed it a couple days ago. This thing appears to work just as advertised.
During the warmer months here in CA I've always dealt with more drastic pH swings because i lock down the house and run the A/C all the time. If I have the windows open, my swings are not nearly as much. I run a Ca Rx with a liter size secondary chamber and also have my skimmer air pulling through a CO2 absorber. This combo usually helps me keep my pH within 8.05 and 8.15 (apex measurement) during the fall and winter months.
Summer is a different story and my swings are from around 8.09 down to 7.6 because i have to close things up to keeps temp bearable .
I know chasing pH is not that important but i definitely notice much better growth when my pH is nearer to 8.2. I have no way to run my skimmer airline out to fresh air so that was out of the question. Another thing i have used in the past with some success was to fill a section of 2" i.d PVC pipe with Rx media, place it over the drain chamber of my sump and let the drip from the Rx effluent go through that. That worked as good as the CO2 scrubber I use now but i don't have room for that set up anymore. This is why i looked into the Pax Bellum injector but could not find any real reviews.
It's been pretty warm here lately and i decided to pull the trigger on the injector and after two days using it, my pH is pretty rock solid.
pH is steady at 8.1 peak and hasn't got lower than 8.05. I'm fine with those numbers as long as they stick.
I'll report back after more time with it. I'm just curious if anyone else is using one on this forum and if they have had a similar experience.
