The domino is beat up, the domino was in there for a year and yesterday i introduced the pbt and this is the behavior im recieving. Is it me or does that domino look beat up?
Since its a PBT, I'd lean heavy towards tang aggro. Thats a mean damsel (IME) but that tang is much bigger and I bet it was home for it first before the domino was introduced.
Aggro... Good luck with that. May need to pick what you want to keep. BTW if thats what your seeing from the PBT, its prolly not going to get better. The domino is beat up, the domino was in there for a year and yesterday i introduced the pbt and this is the behavior im recieving.
All other fish besides my damsels and wrasse is great. When the wrasse peaks up from the sand, the dude was totally trying to murder him. Chased him around for abit. Damsels have some fins and scales missing though. That's not terrible by PBT standards, but it still sucks. How is he doing with other fish?
Yeah, was thinking about returning him sadly. (The pbt)Aggro... Good luck with that. May need to pick what you want to keep. BTW if thats what your seeing from the PBT, its prolly not going to get better.
I have a PBT, in a tank that he thinks it's his. When I added him, I had no problems with him about 6-8 years ago. I don't remember. He is only 1 of 2 fish that survived a delayed downsizing. He is together with a Yellow Tang, and although smaller, it's clear that he wants that tank to be his. I added new fish, and for the most part, he was okay except for chasing a juvenile Heniochus mercilessly. 3 Days in and most of the aggression is now gone. Occasionally he will chase him, but not as often and not as aggressively. I like this fish, it's beautiful, but once he is dead, I am not getting another one. Not worth the trouble in a 125. Give it a couple of days, he may come down a bit, once he establishes his dominance.Yeah, was thinking about returning him sadly. (The pbt)
Thinking about rehoming him to get a foxface or a little 0.5inch little hippo. But my tank is 100 gallons so when he is like 5 or 6 inches ill exchange him.I'd throw up a mirror to see if it helps. Higher in the display.
Too late for trapping and using an acclimation box but as a few said already PBT can be aggressive. Mirror or rehome the PBT.
For sure, i feed him alot and he has a crap ton of algea to feast on. Ik an algea only diet is very bad so i feed him clams and flakes, sometimes shrimp. Tank is a little smaller at 100 gallons though.I forgot to ask, how big is your display? It does make a difference imho and also stuff that pig of a fish with food, it may help, lol.
Ill try giving it 2 or 3 more days, if by this weekend its still terrible, ill be rehoming him.I have a PBT, in a tank that he thinks it's his. Will try though!
True, but usually every fish i have as of now is used to me, my hand, and the net. I was trying to catch some fish recently and they non stop kept swimming in the net. So it may not be that big of a problem but we'll see. Thanks for your inputNote I am not judging. Just wanted to preference that up front. Now if you haven't given it any thought maybe consider the part about exchanging down the road when you feel it outgrew the display and catching it. It may be easy. It may be difficult. It could be a huge task such that you have to remove things to net.
Stress for you. Stress for the animals. That sort of thing. Something to consider. Or you could have the opposite side effect such that you upgrade. Something I'm doing now due to my Gold Lined Rabbitfish growing large as are the Pink Square Anthias.
Hippo's are nice btw.
