This is my powder blue tang, about six months ago my whole tank went through a fallow period of 80 days to kill off ich. My fish seem healthy, fat, and without any visible spots. I’m getting ready to add a few more fish to the DT after their QT. All the fish that are currently in my display tank went through 30 days of copper and then 50 days observation without any signs of disease. I noticed my powder blue tang swimming in the powerhead and flashing the sand couple months ago. Is this normal behavior or is this my worst nightmare and I have some sort of parasite again? I have included a video, please Feel free to comment and give suggestions on whether or not you think I’m in trouble.

I’m concerned bc I’ve read that playing in the powerhead can be a sign of ich. He also seems to flash the sand.

I did only one dose [emoji51] Is that a possibility? If so can I dose my DT?

Mine does that too, been doing it for years. He will swim laps in the tank like that going back and forth in the current from my mp40s.

you mean your flashes like this as well? Mine does the same style of swimming and loves the flow but doesn't flash against the substrate or rocks.

I would just catch the powder blue tang but he is very elusive. If I’m really serious about a freshwater dip to see if FLuke’s come off I’m going to have to drain 3/4 of my tank. I’m willing to do that if that’s what everyone agrees it could be[emoji4]

If you think it's flukes just dose prazi pro to the display. The only thing it will affect are worms/feather dusters.

And no, mine doesn't flash like that on the sand. I had to go back and watch the video again because I missed the very end when he did that.

IME; swimming in front of a powerhead is typically what a fish does when it is trying to relieve a parasite or worm inside the gills.

I agree but also agree that my acanthurus tangs will do this occasionally. If you don’t see any spots anywhere, I wouldn’t assume ich or velvet. It could well be that you have flukes. I suggest dosing prazi as you have, do another dose 5-7 days later :)
