Hello everyone. My second 75gal tank is a month old. Already have some fish in it which I did not quarantine just because I did not have time and since They were introduced at the same time I thought it’s not that big deal and I will just keep observing.
Two days ago I bought PBT from my lfs. It was swimming in their display tank and they told me he was just transferred from quarantine. I forgot I have that quick quarantine treatment and even did not fw dip him. Just acclimated and let him swim in DT.
The next morning I saw several pimples on him that look like salt grains. Ich? But how?
I’ve read a lot, I guess. But how this can happen in less than 12 hours after he was added to tank. When I came back from work in the evening they disappeared. Just barely noticeable dark spots left in that area. Is there any fantastic explanation it can be something other than ich?
This guy is fat, bright colored, has a good appetite and keeps bullying my coral beauty. I set return pump to approximately 200gph which should give enough, I hope, time for my 15w aqua uv sterilizer to slow things down in case of ich until I decide what to do.

Feed like crazy to lower aggression between the other fishes. Their immune response will be improved if they are not fighting for domnation and extra food seems to help to lower competition for food/aggression.

Sorry about the situation.

Do Not feed like crazy which will quickly raise your ammonia and nitrate and cause further problems
To best *****, please post pics and even video under white light intensity as this can be mucus cones, skin irritation and other possibilities

Also note PBTs are really prone to ich and velvet. Should always QT this fish even if “quarantined”. I feed mine supplements and garlic to her food to add an extra layer of nutrition to keep her healthy

I really feed like crazy :) 6 times a day plus seaweed clips.
I will try to make photos but he is very active and those spots are barely noticeable now.
However I think if that white grains can appear and go away during 24 hours in case of ich?

Ich will move and multiply i 36 hours. Pics will help determine

PBT sure do catch ich easily, and are often the first ones to show it. 12 hours is pretty quick though, 24+ hours is more typical.

Pictures will help us with the diagnosis, but early ich is tough to see in photos. Spots that come and go, but gradually increase in numbers over days is a sign of ich.

Bear in mind - feeding by itself does not cure parasitic diseases. A lack of nutrition, over a long period can make a fish more susceptible to disease, but once started, changing the diet will not cure them. Think about it - are there any other animals that can be cured of parasitic disease by increasing the diet?

I feed them since I am afraid they can stop eating at some point and in case of disease so they will have some reserve.
It came back today and now it’s visible

These referred to as bumps appear to be cryptocaryon as the spots are too large and diffused. Best treatment would be coppersafe or general cure with coppersafe my choice at therapuetic level 2.25-2.5 monitored with a reliable copper test kit such as Hanna brand, not Api
Also monitor ammonia level with a reliable test kit during treatment and would not be a bad idea to add an air stone for added oxygen during treatment. These raised bumps appear when fish is stressed and has ich in many cases

So it means other fish has ich as well. I have valentini puffer, moorish idol, mandarin goby, two clowns, snowflake eel, coral beauty angel and banggai cardinal.
Can I use hyposalinity in display as an option? I don’t have corals in it

The bangaii and Mandarin will likely endure hyposalinity well as well as the eel as these fish will need a lower coppersafe level also and eel best with General cure
You can start with the PBT only in conventional QT as described and observe the others, BUT . . . have a plan in the event they too show signs.

Can you try for clearer pictures and a short video?

I can see what I think are shadows in this picture. If so, those spots are raised too high to be ich, and are likely mucus plugs/cones. Those come about due to stress (but of course, one stress cause for these is ich itself - but those spots will be smaller and not raised up so high).

Finally I was able to make a video. Now they look different. If you don’t mind watching 2 minutes:
I thought my water is ok. I test alkalinity using api and try to stick to 8djh. However I borrowed hanna tester today and it shows 252ppm which is almost 14dkh. Going to bring my water to lfs to check tomorrow.

I can't see any spots now, so if they there, they probably are NOT mucus plugs.

Yes. Their appearance change constantly so I really don’t know how do show them or describe. I will wait until more signs are visible and start to prepare qt tank. Thank you

I’m still struggling to see any infection in this video - doesn’t mean there isn’t one, just that I can’t see it.

things have gotten worse. I noticed same small white spots on moorish idol and tang is scratching his sides on the wall constantly. I’ve decided to go hyposalinity way since it seems to be the most effective way to treat them all in DT instead of trying to move them all to qt

Sorry - with the blue lights and the fish being freaked out due to your presence, there isn't anything to see in the video.

Hyposalinity is a good choice for ich or flukes. I do not see any evidence that this is velvet, which is good because hypo doesn't work for that.

Hello everyone. I haven’t started treating yet. But I found my moorish idol on the sand bed today. I thought he is dead but he woke up when I tried to take him out of the tank. However he turned very dark and now I really don’t know what to do
That’s how he looked in the morning

A couple of mirrors in tank and feeding like crazy reduce aggression.
