Im looking to setup a 20 gallon long with a PC light. I want to put some of my chalices in there that hate light. I know nothing about PC lights. What is a good brand to buy? Thanks

PC-R Bulbs, other than that... meh.

PC can burn corals to ya know ;)

Just out of curiosity, why a PC light?

I know they can burn them also. I have a buddy that gets great color with them. I just want to setup a small tank and give it a shot. I have some chalices that just seem to hate light. PC are not as stong as T-5 and halides right?

I light my 16G bowfront with a 96w PC Powerquad bulb. Its great for softies and lower light corals. I used to keep a full blown SPS and LPS dominated 20G high reef with 3x65w PC before that but sold it to a LFS as a display tank.

I ran a 20 with Coralife's non high output t5, which everyone said won't keep corals - I kept softies, zoas, LPS (bowerbanki - which preferes lower light) and SPS (maze brain) in it, and got amazing growth just with the stock bulbs. They are cheaper than PCs. Color was a bit of an issue, and I'm not sure if you can get different color spectrum bulbs for them or not, just a suggestion.

What would you recommened I get and from where? It will be a 20 long

I use a 50 50 combination for best color. The powerquad comes this way and others can be ordered either as individual daylight and actinics or as 50/50 combo bulbs.
I think the 65w will fit over a 20 long so something like this:
30" 2x65W Coralife Aqualight CF hood, 2x 50/50 (Act/10K), -Straight Pin - 53103

I am not real familiar with T-5 lights as I prefer MH for my big tanks but there is probably something similar in T-5, just make sure you get individual reflectors for best T-5 performance. probably something like this?

30" Aqualight High Output T5 Dual Lamp Fixture - 08601

Thank you> You where a big help!!

pcs work great i used them for a long time with sps, and even a bubble tip on top of a full blown mixed reef...a pc is a t5 just wrapped around around it's self there fore not very energy efficant but they will get the job done.... i used to get all my pc bulbs off ebay i could get a pack of 6 or 10 for a real decent price and they looked great...;)

I have a 40 gallon with pc's the bulbs are sunpaq they are super bright, long lasting, and grow the heck out of some sps, zoa, and acans. I love my pc's. 196watts. 1 white 1 atintic

I will speak from experiance on this fixture. I currently have it above my 55 with a reefbrite strip and another t-5 fixture. Overall the coralife fixture is built well and is quite sturdy with a sleek look. Only problem is the bulbs in the 30" fixture actually measure ~27.5" so you will be forced to use the coralife bulbs in it. Overall the fixtures great, i cant speak for the bulbs tho in that i havent read anything about there performance.
