Pic take about a min after tossing them in...desert fox?
DSCN1310.JPG

I would think so... hope they develop more green and speckled remain as they settle in... great pick up.. :)

oops... just sent you a message asking what they are

I have a colony of them, probably 50+ polyps, that I am going to start fragging hopefully for trade. They are really cool, as the color changes a lot depending on the light I have them under. Intense light makes the polyps go an intense white (not bleached looking, but white) similar to the polyp on the bottom right corner of this photo.

I don't think I have ever seen mine go any more green than the ones shown here, just variations in the white parts..

I'm not seeing "desert fox" on zoaid... where is that name from?

I'm not really sure where the name came from, but you can search for the name on here or even in the gallery and it'll come up with some results, actually search "desert" in the gallery and there's a nice pic that comes up from...I forget, I'd have to search for it again. Looks similar to my pic, but not sure if they are the same. :)

Im a little confused here..
What is the difference between SDPE, and Desert foxes? IMO, they are the same.. so why the name change?
scrboy-- I would say SDPE...They look exactly like mine..

Matt your right. I'm not sure where the name desert fox came from but I agree that desert foxes and sdpe's are the same.

Both of these pics are of the same polyp. The first pic is when I first got them and the second is after being in my tank for a few weeks. I got these from Stix and I think he got them from Matt.

The stardust pe picture on zoaid looks nothing like these. On zoaid the spots are pink.

Either the pic on zoaid is off, or they are different morphs

well, the pic is mine, a very true representation of the color..IMO, a bunch of the palys listed as GSPE on Zoaid, dont even look like the original.

unfortunately I can not get a close enough pic of mine...
but from the other pics posted here and seeing my own, I have to think that the "stardust pe" on zoaid is a different morph.

Those shown in this thread, and my colony, must be desert foxes.

Scarboy I think you should submit them as your pictures show how varied the polyps can be, even in the same tank.

ok, nevermind, after more searching on here figured out same paly 2 different names at one point in time i guess :) glad i finally got the rock either way, came out of one of the lfs display tanks after one of the guys tried to argue with me that it wasn't for sale and it was going back in once they reorganized the tank or something :D but they gave in, i'm in there way too often either way lol

now thats confusing.... my polyps have never shown any green on their tentacles
