I can't tell if this is some sort of parasite or polyps.

Almost looks like it's excreting something to me. You could try basting it a little and see if they come off, then if they do, catching one and trying to look under some magnification (or just a macro camera mode on your phone). While they don't really look uniform enough for them to be all the same bug, it can be hard to tell.

Also they all look somewhat deflated, which would make me think excreting something or similar before getting eaten by something, though parasite irritation could do it too.
