Now that I have all the hardware planned and a rough idea of stocking, time to plan the aquascape.

Key features
- two islands / two sections to reduce dwarf angel aggression, Ive read that if you have two islands they won't feel the need to compete for territory as much, and I imagine it will be the same with tangs.
- 10cm clearance minimum on all sides from the glass to allow for easy cleaning tuhe amount of times I have knocked my SPS frag in my 30 gallon due to it being too close to the glass.
- plenty of caves so all fish have a place to hide if they feel scared
- dry rock to reduce or negate chances of hitchhikers which have been a problem in my current tank whilst being open as possible to allow for plenty of swimming room
- 15cm clearance from the top of the aquascape minimum to allow for coral growth and good waterflow + 3cm as according to Red Sea the tanks idle as 49cm water height on their reefer tanks

So I will have a 100cm x 30cm x 35cm space to make the aquascape from the 120cm x 50cm x 53cm tank

I made a poll and A seems to be more popular because of height but I like the layout of B more so I Will make B a bit lower to allow for more coral growth and reduce the right island's size to keep the same proportions

Have to honest with you my friend.
For stocking, no purple tang, and the tomini will have issues in that size tank as well especially with one dwarf angel.

Two dwarfs will not end well for one of them.

Also, one mandarin MAY survive in that size tank once established. It will not support enough pods for 2. And if you do a mandarin, you cannot do the yellow coris as it will out compete the mandarin for pods.

Sorry......just trying to help you avoid some deaths or disappointments.
 
Done some more research and since everyone is saying a purple couldn't fit in the 350 I moved up to 525 but then I started comparing other tanks and have came down to three tanks

all of these I will need a external refugium to support enough pods for my two mandarins and a potential copper band butterfly.

I decided against the cade due to how wide it was despite my liking the concept of a duel weir intake and the side doors

I decided to go with the waterbox over the Red Sea due to the $1000 price difference and the waterbox having the glass overflow

Updated stocking:
1x purple tang
1x white tail bristle tooth tang
1x copperband butterfly
1x flame angel
1x coral beauty
1x bicolour blenny
2x fire goby
2x mandarin dragonett
2x occelarus clown
maybe 2x snowflake clownfish
1x wrasse of some sort (ether a yellowtail wrasse or a leopard wrasse)

According to the triton method I will need somewhere between a 36.4L refugium and a 72.8L refugium. For this ill have to use a external refugium likely in waterboxes non refugium cabinet part

I might mod the plumbing a bit to have a hardline return pipe and as tidal gardens said have a gate valve on the return and somehow plumb the refuge to receive water from the return line and give water to the return chamber

@mta_morrow is this better?

Ive been researching a external refugium more and Ive come up with this so far.
A 70L glass tank
a t valve to split off from the return to feed the refugium
I want to turn the water over 20x a hour so that means in a hour I need 1400L a hour I will also use a pipe of some sort to feed water back to the return chamber so ill move up from a vectra s2 to a vector m2

Moved back to the reefer 525 due to the larger display size and my coworker (he is always honest with me and has lots of experience) at LFS recommending it over the waterbox 130.4
Ill probably light it with 3x hydra 26's hung from the roof
 
For the refugium I think I will plumb a gentle flow from the overflow pipe into a Blue Planet essentials 70L tank which will house some cheato and media. Not sure if I will plumb the refugium into my current tank to cycle it early but run the risk of it getting aptasia or bristle worms

Did some more research on the refugium and I'm going to put it in the not sump section of the tank because I'm not confident mounting it like the ato is or mounting it to the cabinet and I will have to plumb it connection wise like a reactor I think

Did some more research on the plumbing and came up with this design. lll fine tune it once I buy the tank but up till then this is the general idea.

I also decided to go with 50kg of dry rock for the tank. I decided with this amount from the reccomendations of dutch reefer aka @p0st on this video in the comments

Going to go with 40kg of sand for the tank so I can have a inch and a half of sandbed in the display tank and some in the refugium. I’m probably going to go with natural sea water as I have a ready supply of it from my LFS and have never had a problem with it. I’m also researching curing and cycling the rock now and hope to get everything set up by the end of the month. Not sure if I’ll be able to afford all the rock at once though since eg rock is $15 a kg at best and 50x15 =750
