Hey all.

So I thought! I had lost my pearl jawfish...we loved him. He was full of personality and always front and center keeping watch over the tanks (75 gallon). Long story short, had a crash - had to remove all my livestock (that survived). Pete (that's what we named him) was no where to be found so I assumed he had passed and CUC got him. Anyway, tank is back up and still no sign of Pete. Ordered and received a new jawfish from DD. Just put him in tank after observation in QT. You know where this is going...guess who showed up about an hour later?!?! PETE! So here is my question - will two pearl jawfish be okay together in a 75 gallon? It is FOWLR. Thanks in advance for any help! Please stay safe.

Thats awesome, glad he/she survived! I love jawfish! Gonna get a couple of the pearlies for my 900xxxl. Shouldn't be a problem. Pearlies are pretty peaceful and dont seem to fight as much as other jawfish. Hopefully you got a Male and female and they pair up. At the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, they used to have (dont know if they still have it) a showcase of about 50 gallons with about 15 pearlies in it. been there multiple times and never saw the pearlies fight.

We have never been so happy to see a fish! My daughter teared up - lol! Thanks for the reply.

Pearly jawfish have no clear reliable dimorphic characteristic. Some people reports that Male have two black spots under the chin but this does not seem to be true. Rather it seem to be a regional characteristic.
