I went in with @Big E and purchased what was sold to us as a Pearlberry. We determined pretty quickly that it wasn't.....but now, 6 months later, the frag has exploded with growth and color. Now I am not so sure....what do you think?

Looks like PB. Anyway “whats in a name? A rose by another name would smell just as sweet”. And that’s a sweet coral! Here is a pic under white lights.....colors look pretty close. With the naked eye there is a little green and the purple is a bit darker.

It was all about lineage and authenticity now it’s about the $$$$“What’s in a name anyway?”
While I don’t care about the name game (especially today’s name game), the OG corals and their names are extremely important and valuable IMO. Why? Because you KNOW exactly what you’re getting.
My feeling is most of the older OG pieces won’t look today how they did back then. Different lights and a much bluer look overall changes things. Take the OG Green Slimer for example. It was much more yellow from the sun and 6500k halides. Today it really pulls its name as Green. I’ve seen quite a few ORA pieces just not pan out in todays reefing world compared to 15 years ago.
So the name can and should be extremely important IMO especially on the older lineage stuff. Today’s stuff? The name doesn’t mean a thing 99% of the time.
I think you should pm me for details on where to ship a frag.I went in with @Big E and purchased what was sold to us as a Pearlberry. We determined pretty quickly that it wasn't.....but now, 6 months later, the frag has exploded with growth and color. Now I am not so sure....what do you think?

Everything you said is true. However, imo it very well may be the frag name you purchased but if it’s not wysiwyg when purchasing online the frag you receive may very well be what you ordered but fragged from a portion of the mother that was not conducive to the actual appearance of the mother coral. I live near POTO and purchase many frags from them. Most have been fraged in front of me so I know what I’m purchasing but have taken on a slightly different look compared to the mother coral. As you said corals adapt and adjust to each tank conditions.“What’s in a name anyway?”

Ok, what exactly am I getting?
To be honest...I don't care much about the name (I buy based on looks).....but I do keep a spreadsheet with all my living organisms. It bothers me to mislabel something in my documentation lol.
If it’s a true Pearlberry it will look like the link below. The lavender tips with pearly green branches.

ORA Pearlberry | Acropora sp. | ORA | Oceans, Reefs & Aquariums
The ORA Pearlberry is a delicatley branched staghorn Acropora with a pearlescent background, green corallites and lavendar tips.www.orafarm.com
Or how about the Leng Sy monti? It will have the distinctive purple growth rim.
I agree with this. I really don’t think the OPs coral looks anything like a pearlberry. Still a very nice coral though. This is mine when it is happy. I think the op's picture might not be a true pearl. The polyp locations seem to be more dense then mine. If I were to compare it to mine I would say they are not the same coral.
