My lfs currently has a pearlscale butterfly fish, absolutely beautiful fish and I have them holding it for me till Friday (get paid and wanted to do a little more research beforehand). I currently have a longnose butterfly in my tank and the people said that the longnose and pearlscale shouldn't fight as they don't look the same, is that true?

Also, currently have a mixed reef tank my longnose doesn't bother my coral, really well fed, are pearlscales reef safe?

Pearlscales and the Longnose shouldn't have aggression, but Pearlscales are known Coral munchers and are generally not considered reef safe (not even listed as "with caution").

Generally with butterflies it goes like this:

Pyramid-Reef Safe if well fed
Copperband-Mostly reef safe if well fed
Longnose Yellow-Mostly reef safe if well fed

All other Butterfly Fish are either worse odds than dwarf angels or just flat out not reef safe

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
