Friday night I got a pearly jawfish about 1.5-2 inches long. Put him in the tank along with a new target mandarin. He instantly disappeared behind the rock work and I haven't seen him since. The target mandarin has been under my frag rack and slowly exploring. Should I worry about him or should I just let him adjust to his new home for a while before I start to worry. It is a big tank 5 foot long Red Sea reefer 625 so plenty of little nooks and blindspots he could hide.

I have had pj’s that have taken three weeks to show up. Once they build their home they get much braver. Just make sure you have plenty of light weight rubble for it to build it’s home

Okay that's what I figured. I have plenty of shells from hermits in my tank and I have some rock rubble from my old diamond goby. I did just throw in a bunch more though. I will hopefully see him soon. Mt sister claimed she saw him poke out from the rocks so I'll take that as a good sign.

Mines been MIA for a wk now. He had been in his home for 1 1/2 yrs & decided he wanted to move so he's been going to 3 different places & making a new home then leaving for another spot. I'm temped to get another one to see what happens.

Just a little update I have found him. Im in the process of setting up a frag tank so I currently have 4 frag racks in my tank close to the sand bed for growing zoas. The target mandarin will sleep under the frag rack on the right side of the tank and will disappear into the rock work for a few hours at a time I assume to hunt copepods. Was seeing if he went under one of the other frag racks to eat and notice some sand shoot out of it. Peak underneath it and I see the Pearly jawfish stating to set up a den. Nice to see him settling in
