Was on a day trip to pick family up and had time to kill, hit a LFS in the town I was in. Spotted what looked like a Pectinia to me, but I was corrected and told it was a "Mummy Eye Chalice"

Regardless I bought it....Mouths are HUGE compared to my other chalice corals. The shark fin it is growing might just be throwing me off....

Mummy eye chalices are green with pink eyes. That looks blue, green, and pink. And I agree the mouths on that coral look big for a chalice.

Not gonna lie guys / gals ... I really wanted it to be a Pectinia and had a feeling it was so I bought it. I still want to say amazing things about that LFS, FISH PROS in Amarillo, TX even if they tried to tell me it was a Chalice....they run an awesome store.

Just to stir this pot...look at the eyes on these "Emerald Mummy Eyes"

Let me get the DSLR out

hard to get a downward shot with the refraction on the front aquarium glass. From my research, I found Pectinias are closely related to a Chalice coral and used to go by "Spiny Chalice Corals". I am still cool either way on what this turns out to be as it's colors are amazing.
